Shelley Speed, CNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

 


Shelley Speed joined Spine Team Texas in February 2010 as a neurological/pain management nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada, and earned her Master’s of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. 

With nearly 19 years professional nursing experience, including 12 years as a neurological nurse practitioner and clinician, she brings tremendous neurosurgical knowledge and skills to Spine Team Texas. During her nursing career, Speed has been a member of the adjunct clinical faculty for UTA, served as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students from UTA and Texas Women’s University, developed and taught various neuroscience lectures and critical care programs, and coauthored a research paper published in the Journal of Neurosurgery (December 2010) on the analysis of prevertebral soft tissue swelling and dysphagia in multilevel anterior cervical discectomy.

Speed’s work and professional activities have earned her numerous awards, including

Professional Qualifications

Personal Interests

A native of Canada, Speed currently resides in Dallas and enjoys training her four dogs, being a foster parent, hockey, and travelling to Maui.
