Southlake doctor achieves peer-nominated award two consecutive years
Spine Team Texas physician and practice partner Michael Garcia, M.D., board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, received D Magazine’s Best Doctor designation for 2014 and again for 2015. Dr. Garcia works full-time in the Southlake location and embodies the practice’s philosophy of providing innovative and conservative spine care where nonsurgical options are explored before surgical intervention is considered or when medically necessary.
D Magazine’s selection process for Best Doctors and Pediatric Specialists begins with a peer voting process. This year, 8,936 letters were mailed to local doctors from their online directory, inviting them to vote via an online ballot. Physicians could vote for up to three doctors in each category. The nomination form asked them to cast a vote keeping in mind the following question: Which Dallas doctors would you trust with the care of a loved one?
After each voter’s Texas medical license number was vetted for validity, D Magazine teamed up with DataJoe, their online ballot agency, to verify and tally the votes. The tallied list was then presented to an anonymous panel of esteemed physicians. The panel and D Magazine staff reviewed the tallied results and decided the finalists based on the number of votes in each category. Once the list was finalized, D confirmed each doctor’s Texas medical license status and board certification and investigated his or her disciplinary status before notifying winners.
